The Picture Book Buzz - Interview with Gretchen McLellan

Today, I have the fun privilege of interviewing a friend and fellow Washington writer, Gretchen McLellan. Her debut picture book, Mrs. McBee Leaves Room 3, involves the range of feelings experienced by children at the end of the school year. Her book was reviewed by Vivian Kirkfield on her blog - Picture Books Help Kids Soar - last Friday, for Perfect Picture Book Friday #PPBF. Take a seat and enjoy some fun insight into Gretchen and her amazing upcoming books. Gretchen, thank you so much for stopping by to visit with us. Tell us a little about yourself. Noisy Night - Perfect Picture Book Friday #PPBF

Mac is back! I love Mac Barnett's books (especially Extra Yarn & Leo), his TED talks, and his Kidlit presentations. I was excited to read this new one. Like Sam and Dave Dig a Hole, it broke rules and did so humorously. This is a great mentor text for a building plot, foreshadowing, and page turns. Already garnering starred reviews, this is a fun book for writers and beginning readers. Noisy Night Author: Mac Barnett Illustrator: Brian Biggs Publisher: Roaring Brook Press (2017) Ages: 4 to 8 Fiction Themes: Bedtime, humor, diversity, and phonetic repetition Synopsis (From Barnes & Noble): It's a noisy night in this city building!
